The No-No / Los No-No

"No-No" was the appellation with which they called the Nikkei prisoners in the Fields of Seclusion / Concentration / Confinement during World War II who answered "No" to two questions on a biased form to determine loyalty to the US. This activity put American citizens of Japanese descent between the sword and the wall to choose between the country where they were born or chose to live, their cultural combination and their race, they also caused these citizens to suffer from a level of discrimination for not wanting to be part of the game of loyalties where politics seeks to end moral values, spirituality and sensitivity to win the war. I recommend the novel, Penguin has several editions even for children.

#EstelleIshigo was an artist married to a nisei (Japanese ancestry of II generation) #ArthurIshigo, both were sent to the Concentration Camp for Japanese in #Wyoming. She documented her life in those years, when they were released they lived in poverty and Arthur died in 1957. The other prisoners of the camp helped Estelle publish her book in 1972: #LoneHeartMountain. Estelle died in 1990 when this short film by #StevenOkazaki was released. In 1991 the short film won the #Oscar for best documentary short film and the #ClermontFerrant Grand Prix.

"No-No" fue el apelativo con el que llamaron a los Nikkei prisioneros en los Campos de Reclusión/ Concentración/ Confinamiento durante la II Guerra Mundial que respondieron "No" a dos preguntas de un tendencioso formulario para determinar la lealtad a los EEUU. Esta actividad puso entre la espada y la pared a ciudadanos estadounidenses de ascendencia japonesa a elegir entre el país donde nacieron o escogieron vivir, su combinación cultural y su raza, además hicieron que estos ciudadanos sufrieran de un nivel más de discriminación por no querer ser parte del juego de lealtades donde la política busca acabar con los valores morales, la espiritualidad y la sensibilidad para ganar la Guerra. Les recomiendo la novela, Penguin tiene varias ediciones incluso para niños.
